Weekend in St. Petersburg

Despite the fact that Moscow got back its title of the capital, St. Petersburg still occupies a very important place in the life of our country. Unofficially, it is considered “the second capital” of Russia. ”A window to Europe”, drilled by Peter the Great, St. Petersburg still stays the most European city in Russia. It is also the most easily accessible city for the tourists as following the certain conditions you can come here without visa for the whole three days! This program will let you feel the flavor of the city on the river Neva thereafter you will definitely have a desire to come back. DURING THE TOUR YOU WILL SEE:

  • Saint Petersburg is the city on the river Neva, the cultural capital, the Northern Palmyra, the city of white nights, the cradle of the revolution… Plenty of names suit the city. Despite its young age (only 300 years old) Saint Petersburg has taken a very special place in history. The city is located on 42 islands connected by 360 bridges that cross the river Neva and its 65 branches and natural canals. During the sightseeing city tour, on the first day of your trip, you’ll see the main landmarks of the city: the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island, Senate Square and other monuments and architectural ensembles. Next morning you’ll visit the State Hermitage - one of the largest art and cultural-historical museums in the world. Its main building is located in the Winter Palace, the main Emperor's residence. After lunch, in winter period, you’ll be awaited by St. Isaac’s Cathedral that is sometimes called the museum of colored stones as its luxurious interiors are decorated with valuable species of stones: malachite, marble, lapis lazuli, shungite, siltstone. Or, in summer period, it will be a boat cruise along the rivers and canals – the most interesting way of getting acquainted with Northern Venice. Next day you’ll head to one of the summer residences of Russian emperors – Peterhof or Pavlovsk. Peterhof is a town of fountains where currently function 150 fountains and 4 sculptural cascades. There you’ll visit a Lower Park and one of the small cottages. And in elegant Pavlovsk you’ll explore the Palace of Paul I and take a “Troika” ride along a magnificent landscape park stretching on the area of 600 hectare. During your free time you can visit one of the famous theatres of St. Petersburg, admire the bridges’ opening or just order an additional excursion.
