Dostoevsky Museum and Walking Tour

Dostoevsky's name is inextricably linked with St. Petersburg. In his works we meet not the ceremonial Venice of the North, but a special "Dostoevsky's Petersburg", a city of ordinary people, beggars, homeless children and minor officials. Therefore, the excursion to the Dostoevsky Museum will begin on the streets of this city you will pass along after the heroes of one of his most famous novels "Crime and Punishment". Together with Raskolnikov, you will be able to count 730 steps from his house to the house of the old woman-pawnbroker and walk through the places associated with the life and work of the writer: the Engineering Castle, houses on Vladimirsky Prospekt and Vladimirskaya Square, Sennaya Square, Semenovsky parade ground, where the execution of Dostoevsky should have taken place, house on Kuznechny lane, where the Dostoevsky's memorial museum - apartment is located. The beginning and the end of the writer's career turned out to be converged at one point - in this house Dostoevsky rented an apartment twice, for a very short time in 1846 and from October 1878 to his own death in 1881. Here he worked on the early novel "The Double" and last novel "The Brothers Karamazov”. During a tour of the museum, you will learn about the main events in the life of the writer, the history of creation and the problems of his works, as well as about the years spent in this apartment on Kuznechny Lane. You will find an interesting story about the peculiarities of the writer's home life, about the fate of his wife Anna Grigorievna and children Lyuba and Fedya, about the work on the last novel "The Brothers Karamazov" and about the last days of his life.
